2025 Call for Ellmer College of Health Sciences Nominations
The Ellmer College of Health Sciences (ECHS) awards provide an opportunity to recognize those who have demonstrated an outstanding contribution within certain areas. They create an opportunity to nominate that special someone whom you feel goes above and beyond, making them deserve such an award.
Please review the guidelines and submit nomination(s) to the ECHS Awards Chair, Jessica Suedbeck, atÌýjsuedbec@odu.eduÌýby July 15,Ìý2025. Specific instructions are included for each award.ÌýÌýÌý
The College Awards Committee will review the nomination materials and make their selections, which will then be announced by Dean Van Lunen at the State of the College Address/Welcome Back Reception in Fall 2025.
All awards packets must be emailed directly to ECHS Awards Chair, Jessica Suedbeck, at jsuedbec@odu.edu.

- Outstanding Faculty Teaching award is to recognize a full-time faculty member within the ECHS who is outstanding in teaching.Ìý
- Outstanding Faculty Professional Service award is to recognize a full-time faculty member with the ECHS for exemplary service.Ìý
- Outstanding Use of Technology in Teaching award is to recognize a full-time faculty member within the ECHS who is outstanding in the use of technology-based instruction in their teaching.Ìý
- Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Teaching award is to recognize an adjunct faculty member within the ECHS who is outstanding in teaching.Ìý
- Outstanding Alumni award is to recognize an alumna or alumnus within the ECHS who demonstrates outstanding and uncommon achievement in their profession.Ìý
- Outstanding Preceptor award is to recognize a preceptor/clinical instructor that demonstrates excellence in collaborative practice while working with students through their clinical or experiential course.Ìý
- Outstanding Mentor award is to recognize an employee within the ECHS who is a mentor to students, staff, and/or faculty.ÌýÌý
- Outstanding Researcher award is to recognize a full-time faculty member within the ECHS who is outstanding in research.Ìý
- Outstanding Staff award is to recognize non-teaching personnel assigned to the ECHS for outstanding dedication, competence, performance, and customer service with 1 years’ experience in the college.Ìý
- Outstanding Doctoral mentor Award is to recognize an employee within the College of Health Science who mentors doctoral students. The awardee should have demonstrated a sustained record of doctoral mentorship for ECHS.
- Rising Star Researcher award is to recognize a full-time member within the ECHS who demonstrates outstanding scholarly activity early in his or her career.Ìý
- RisingÌýStar Staff award is to recognize staff and administrators in the ECHS for outstanding dedication, competence, performance, and customer service with 3 years of experience with this position.Ìý
- Rising Star Adjunct Faculty Teaching Award is to recognize an adjunct faculty member within ECHSÌýwho demonstrates outstanding teaching early in his or her adjunct career. The awardee should have excellent teaching records in the classroom or clinical setting as an instructor.Ìý
- Rising Star Faculty Teaching Award is to recognize a full-time faculty member within ECHSÌýwho demonstrates outstanding teaching early in his or her career. The awardee should have excellent teaching records in the classroom or clinical setting as an instructor.
