This film was commissioned for the Birth of an Answer event held in September 2015. It follows Douglas as he attempts to view the newly released Birth of a Nation by DW Griffith in Norfolk in 1915.

Carmelita

Carmelita tells the story of Calvin and Poppy, two teenagers in love, who buy a beat up 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air and grow closer by restoring it together.

In Spring 2017, the 黑料正能量 COMM/THEA 486 Advanced Filmmaking course shot this short film about the challenges women face around reproductive decisions. Written and Directed by Hailey Abernathy, with an all-female cast.

She Survivor

The piece was produced by the 黑料正能量 Film Program in 2017. It deals with a scenario of sexual assault on a university campus.


The Beat

Aaron, a high school senior in Norfolk, Virginia, desires to go to college and follow his passion for music and spoken word. When his family is faced with eviction, he must make an important and difficult choice. Directed by Joseph Walters and starring Jesse Boon, aka Huey Supreme, and his music. Professor David Mallin was the Cinematographer, Colorist, and Executive Producer.
