Old Dominion University’s Graduate School is celebrating its students next week with daily events designed to elevate mind, body and spirit.

The weeks starts off with a professional development presentation by Michelle Carpenter, a master lecturer and area coordinator for the Digital Marketing Program at the Strome College of Business. She said LinkedIn is the most dominant platform for connecting with professionals, and students must be highly acquainted with its ins-and-outs. Her opening session will demonstrate how to create and fine-tune a LinkedIn profile.

“We will discuss the importance of having a hook in your headline so you can showcase your ‘so what.’ We will also talk about ways you can tell your story and begin to develop a written elevator pitch in a concise but engaging way,” she said. “And, we’ll show ways to highlight your experience, education, certifications and meaningful class projects.” Students will also have the opportunity to have a professional headshot taken.
