Board of Visitors Emergency Meeting

Emergency Meeting of the Board of Visitors Monday, April 13, 2020, 2:00 p.m. In accordance with Va. Code 搂 2.2-3708.2 (A)(3), the Board of Visitors of Old Dominion University will meet by electronic communication means on Monday, April 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. EDT to discuss with University leadership specific plans regarding the University's response to the coronavirus. An emergency meeting is permitted when the Governor has declared a state of emergency in accordance with Va. Code 搂 44-147.17, provided that (i) the catastrophic nature of the declared emergency makes it impracticable or unsafe to assemble a quorum in a single location and (ii) the purpose of the meeting is to address the emergency. The Rector, in consultation with the President of University, has determined that it would be both impracticable and unsafe to assemble a quorum in a single location for this meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to address the emergency declared by Governor Northam on March 12, 2020. The meeting will be held in open and closed session. Following a motion and vote of the Board of Visitors to convene in closed session, members of the Board and University officials will leave the open session call and proceed in closed session. Following the closed session, the Board of Visitors will reconvene in open session to certify that only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements and which were identified in the motion authorizing the closed session were heard, discussed, or considered in closed session. There will be no opportunity for unscheduled comments from the public during this meeting.
